The Department of Art and Art History cordially invites you to the 2024 Senior Project Exhibition, Incandescence. Reflecting the skill and knowledge acquired during their years of study, this group exhibition includes a diverse range of artwork – painting, mixed media, sculpture, digital media, and installation.

Ysabela V. Montes’s and Emily A. Van Der Linden’s projects focus on portraiture and still life. Paintings of family members, familiar objects, and influential figures grant viewers insight into unique personalities and intricate intimacies.

The sculptural and installation works by Vanessa Daniel and Caroline Mangham explore how lived experiences are catalysts for creating an environment or an abstract object; their artistic approaches seem to question how we see ourselves in relation to our daily rituals and surroundings.

Taylor R. Clark’s textile works and Rebecca B. Mouhawas mixed media canvases have rich colorful surfaces that reference the tradition of abstract painting and present personal perspectives and emotional awareness.

Using an array of techniques and conceptual approaches, Kristen M. Itchon’s digital media self-portraits explore identity, while Lucy J. Jordan paints patterns and western themed imagery that allude to fantastic places and autobiographical narratives.

Canvases by Luis A. Carranza Bravo and Andrew F. Salaiza feature samples of historic imagery and realistic forest landscapes. Carranza Bravo’s large-scale Godzilla figure and Salaiza’s natural scenes address social and environmental concerns.

The Harris Gallery is located across from the Abraham Campus Center at 2000 Second Street on the La Verne campus.
