About the Exhibition

The Ground Floor Gallery presents Christopher Rogers’ student exhibition Elemental Opposites. Showcasing black and white photography captured with a pinhole camera, Rogers deliberately returns to the fundamental elements of the photographic art form to oppose the ever-evolving technology in photography.

Much as fire opposes water, nature opposes civilization; this body of work is a deliberate opposition to the modern world of digital and artificial technology within photography.

The soothing flowing water is representative of the deliberate and slow process of analog photography, contrasted by the high energy and fast pace of digital photography represented by fire. In a world filled with pixels and perfect images, you are invited to take time and reflect on the unfiltered, unedited perspective on the natural world.
