Prism Review is the literary journal of the Creative Writing program at the University of La Verne. Offered through the CWRT 305 course, students work alongside faculty as editors, evaluating and choosing the best material from many hundreds of annual literary submissions. Work on Prism Review also focuses on what makes appropriate content for a contemporary literary journal. This hands-on approach allows for a degree of intimacy with the process few other programs can match.
Some courses may also focus on the concept of interviewing, as students read interviews with writers and then interview a contemporary author; students also write capsule reviews of two current literary books, also to run in the next issue.
