Chemistry Club
ULV Chemistry Club is the La Verne chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS), which strives to educate students on the various applications of chemistry. By providing a variety of events and demonstrations, chemistry club aims to engage students so that they may be encouraged to seek further education and provide service to their community. The American Chemical Society is one of the largest scientific societies that aims to help individuals in education, careers, and community service. As the ULV chapter, chemistry club will serve as a bridge to a large community of chemists that embark on regional and national events, showcasing research and other important findings.
Mission
As a collaboration between students, staff, and faculty, chemistry club aims to emphasize the values of professionalism, scholarship, and leadership. Chemistry club invites all to explore and engage in activities that serve to better the environment and well-being of others.
Goals
- To encourage students to apply chemistry to all aspects of life.
- To educate students on value of chemistry in respect to their community.
- To provide students with information and resources of chemistry, in and out of a laboratory.

La Verne Buddies
La Verne Buddies aims to connect and support students with and without disabilities through friendship, in hopes to create a more inclusive environment and end the isolation that many students might feel on campus. La Verne Buddies also strives to be a voice to those often overlooked, creating an advocacy group that can foster more diversity and inclusion that benefits the La Verne community at the University of La Verne. Some of LVB’s objectives are making friendship pairs, forming valuable connections with peers, creating an inclusive campus environment, being effective advocates, and educating ULV’s student population on disability awareness.

Cybersecurity Club
Our cybersecurity club, CySec, is dedicated to providing our members with a safe, empowering, and uplifting environment to thrive in the STEM fields of study and industry. We hope to introduce more students at the university to the field of cybersecurity, and have more students consider it as their field of choice.
Cybersecurity is a rapidly advancing field that currently does not have the manpower to keep up with the constant threats and attacks. Our club is dedicated to leveraging the University’s resources and equipping students with as many resources and connections as possible during their time at the University of La Verne.

Future Technologies Club
We are currently working on 3 projects:
– 3D printing and coding the flight control system of a drone.
– Computer Vision: Use the camera on the drone to follow a person and recognize positions of objects in environment.
– Mind controlled Drone: We read the brain waves with an OpenBCI device and filter raw data to individual thoughts/movements, to then connect them to specific drone movements.
If you have another project to take please feel free to contact us 🙂

Physics Program Club
Physics is the study of the world at its most fundamental level. It is the foundation of all scientific disciplines, and as such is the most diverse field of scientific inquiry. Physicists study the structure of subatomic particles and the evolution of galaxies, model climate change and brain processes, and work at the cutting edge of developing technologies such as nuclear fusion, nanotechnology, quantum optics, and spintronics. The dozens of subfields within physics attest to how far-reaching physics is in our technological society.
The Physics Department at the University of La Verne offers a unique and rigorous educational environment in which students receive personalized attention from trained and experienced faculty. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Arts and a minor in physics. Physics majors may also choose to pursue the 3-2 Dual Degree Engineering Program allowing them to obtain an engineering degree in addition to their physics degree in 5 years. The Department also offers a biomedical physics option for majors interested in continuing on to medical school, medical physics or biophysics and a teaching option for majors interested in a career in teaching physics.
TITLE III HSI STEM GRANT: Holistic and Inclusive Practices for Student Success (HIPSS)
Mission:
To create opportunities for the academic, professional, wellbeing, and personal growth of students.
Vision:
To ensure we meet students where they are; providing the care and support needed for students to develop a healthy sense of belonging that positively impacts their social, emotional, and academic development.
Learning Domains:
Social Justice/Education/Validation/Community/Leadership
More than 40 percent of students at the University of La Verne are the first in their families to attend a university. Our program, which is funded through a Title III Grant, supports Latinx and students of color who are Pell Grant eligible and are interested in STEM fields. We support students as they transition into college with programs designed to build academic and professional skills.
Peer mentoring along with targeted “year specific” programs
provide the type of experiences, care, and support that students need to develop a healthy sense of belonging and agency on campus and life after college.

Women in Physics Club
Women in Physics is a club for all. We are an advocacy group for the support of women in the sciences and for those wanting to go in to the sciences. Our club is for those interested in helping others succeed while also learning some new things. We are here to help each other on our campus as well as others in the community. Our club is open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Our club meetings focus on how physics and other sciences affect our daily lives with fun activities that don’t always feel like learning in order to promote the sciences. We do so in order to build interest and support within this field without giving obligation of prior knowledge.
