Courses allow students to develop critical understandings of artistic expression as an essential part of life, while ensembles sponsored by the department offer everyone in the La&nbsp;Verne community the chance to participate in jazz, <span>orchestra, chamber groups, pep band, <\/span>and chorale performances, sometimes around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Students may choose to either major or minor to learn the skills necessary for today\u2019s musicians, with concentrations available in performance, history, and theory\/composition. The Music Department has a unique relationship with the university in that students from all disciplines are invited and encouraged to participate in all classes, ensembles, and applied lessons. We give the opportunity to initiate and\/or continue development of musical talent and interest to everyone.<\/p>\n<h2>Sundays at the Morgan<\/h2>\n<p>Sundays at the Morgan are a <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/events\/category\/music\/sundays-at-the-morgan\/list\/\">monthly showcase of\u00a0music and musicians<\/a> shaped by the College of Arts and\u00a0Sciences\u2019 Department of Music. It\u2019s a tradition marked\u00a0with anticipation\u2014guitarists warming up their fingers\u00a0on a fretboard and singers climbing and descending\u00a0scales, as arts enthusiasts and music lovers gather in\u00a0front of Founder\u2019s Hall.
