\"\"<\/a> SACNAS (Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in STEM) <\/strong><\/a>\"\"<\/a> \u00a0\"\"<\/a> \u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/h3>\n

Faculty Advisor: Dr. V\u00edctor Carmona<\/a><\/strong>
\nThe ULV SACNAS Chapter is a student-led organization dedicated to building community and supporting student success in STEM through professional development and mentorship. Rooted in a mission to expand opportunities for students historically underrepresented in the sciences, the chapter is open to all students interested in developing leadership, research experience, and a professional identity in STEM. Students engage in workshops focused on CV development, personal statements, interview preparation, networking, and research opportunities, while also preparing for participation in conferences such as the SACNAS National Diversity in STEM Conference. These experiences are designed to help students move beyond coursework and actively prepare for graduate study and careers in the sciences. The chapter fosters a collaborative learning environment grounded in peer support and mentorship, while also developing student-centered resources that help peers stay connected and academically engaged. SACNAS at ULV reflects a shared commitment to growth, opportunity, and the idea that students are not only learning science, but preparing to contribute to it.

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Synthetic Biology Club \/ ULV iGEM Team<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 <\/span>\"\"<\/a> \u00a0\"\"<\/a> \u00a0\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/h3>\n

The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to education and competition, the advancement of synthetic biology, and the development of an open community and collaboration. iGEM runs three main programs: the\u00a0iGEM Competition<\/b>\u00a0– teams made up of predominantly undergraduate students interested in the field of synthetic biology in an international competition showcasing biosynthetic projects from around the world. The iGEM competition encourages student researchers to work in teams and attempt to solve real-world challenges by building genetically engineered biological systems. Each iGEM team works throughout the summer to develop their own project;\u00a0the\u00a0Labs Program<\/b>\u00a0– a program for academic labs to use the same resources as the competition teams; and the\u00a0Registry of Standard Biological Parts<\/b> – a growing collection of genetic parts use for building biological devices and systems.\u00a0 Advisor: Todd Lorenz<\/a> \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Pre-Pharmacy<\/a> <\/span>Pre-Pharmacy Club<\/a><\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\"\"<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a> \u00a0<\/span>The Pre-Health Club<\/a><\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\"\"<\/a> \u00a0\"\"<\/a> \u00a0<\/span>\"\"<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Pre-Health Club\u00a0 provides\u00a0 resources, opportunities, and guidance with the goal to build a pre-health student community, where students support each other their journeys to professional school. The idea is to motivate veteran pre-health students to use their experiences to guide newer pre-health students.\u00a0 Activities to include field trips, certification events, volunteer work, and\/or a suturing seminar. The main fields of interest are MD\/DO, dentistry, physician\u2019s assistant, veterinary medicine, dermatology, psychiatry, and anesthesiology (and more)!\u00a0 Advisor: Aleli Clark<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
